چکیده

Abstract Xanthomonas campestris pv. campestris, the causal agent of black rot crucifers, was one first bacterial plant pathogens ever identified. Over 130 years later, remains a threat to cabbage, cauliflower, and other Brassica crops around world. Recent genomic genetic data are informing our understanding X. taxonomy, dissemination, inoculum sources, virulence factors. This new knowledge promises positively impact resistance breeding varieties management sources.

Reaction of Cauliflower Genotypes to Black Rot of Crucifers

This study aimed to evaluate six cauliflower genotypes regarding their resistance to black rot and their production performance. To do so, it was conducted two field experiments in Ipameri, Goiás, Brazil, in 2012 and 2013. It was used a randomized block design, with four replications (total of 24 plots). Each plot consisted of three planting lines 2.5 m long (six plants/line), spaced 1.0 m apar...

Xanthomonas campestris pv. campestris (cause of black rot of crucifers) in the genomic era is still a worldwide threat to brassica crops.

BACKGROUND Xanthomonas campestris pv. campestris (Xcc) (Pammel) Dowson is a Gram-negative bacterium that causes black rot, the most important disease of vegetable brassica crops worldwide. Intensive molecular investigation of Xcc is gaining momentum and several whole genome sequences are available. TAXONOMY Bacteria; Phylum Proteobacteria; Class Gammaproteobacteria; Order Xanthomonadales; Fam...

Genomic insights that advance the species definition for prokaryotes.

To help advance the species definition for prokaryotes, we have compared the gene content of 70 closely related and fully sequenced bacterial genomes to identify whether species boundaries exist, and to determine the role of the organism's ecology on its shared gene content. We found the average nucleotide identity (ANI) of the shared genes between two strains to be a robust means to compare ge...
